Sedation Dentistry
You may need or request sedation dentistry, depending on the type of treatment or dental phobia. If the thought of going to the dentist terrifies you, Tejal A. Kakade, DMD, MAGD, PC, has several solutions, including sedation during treatment. In many cases, invasive treatments require some level of sedation.
We are committed to ensuring your comfort and relaxation at all times. If sedation is necessary, Dr. Tejal or a member of the team will provide instructions on how to prepare for treatment. Sedation involves the use of medications that can be administered in a number of ways, including oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide.
Oral Conscious Sedation
With oral conscious sedation, you will feel more relaxed during checkups or treatment. Favored by patients who do not like needles, oral conscious sedation is administered by a qualified dental professional. You will remain safe at all times, and our staff is always on hand to provide additional reassurances.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, which is more commonly known as “laughing gas,” is administered in a relaxed environment where your safety is the main priority. A mask is placed over the nose, providing a controlled supply of nitrous oxide to help you relax during treatment. Many patients experience giddiness when nitrous oxide is used in sedation dentistry. This is a perfectly normal side effect of the gas and will pass quickly when the mask is removed.
You can discuss sedation dentistry options with Dr. Tejal or a member of her team. Patients with dental phobia may need additional help overcoming their fear. We are a compassionate and understanding dental practice. If there is anything that is stopping you from seeking dental treatment, reach out to our team today.
